GBE
Gigabit Ethernet verification IP

Protocol Overview

Gigabit Ethernet is a transmission technology based on the Ethernet frame format and protocol. Its wide applications include Local Area Networks (LANs) for transmission at higher data-rates. It is defined in IEEE standard-802.3z. Gigabit Ethernet employs the CSMA/CD &MAC; protocol and frame format similar to its predecessors (10Mb/s and 100Mb/s). Because of these attributes as well as support for Full-duplex operation, Gigabit Ethernet is an ideal backbone interconnect technology.

The Gigabit Ethernet VIP is compatible with IEEE 802.3 specifications and verifies MAC-to-PHY layer interfaces of designs with a 1G Ethernet interface GMII TBI. It can work with SystemVerilog, VMM and UVM environment.
